Future Deletion

This is one of those stories that I can only imagine that 8 or 10 years from now, Owen will be furious with me for having shared. It may deleted at some point in the future, but until then, Enjoy!

A couple of night ago, just after Matthew and I had gone to bed, we heard Owen's bedroom door open. I figured that he was just going to the bathroom, so I wasn't too worried, until I heard his little footsteps go right on past the bathroom. I heard a noise in the kitchen, so I bolted out of bed and ran in there, because I was sure that he was trying to sneak a snack.

The sight that greeted me when I arrived in the kitchen was not of a boy sneaking snacks, but of a boy peeing, all. over. the. floor. I could tell that he was fast asleep, so I said loudly, "Owen! Owen wake up!" He kind of came to, and realized what he was doing and started flailing around and spraying pee all around like an oscillating sprinkler! He started crying when he realized that he was standing in a puddle of pee, and that his jammies were soaked. Matthew and I were laughing because, well, how could we not laugh, but Owen realized that we were laughing at him and he started angry sobbing. He was so mad that we were laughing at his misfortune. I put on a straight face, lifted him out of his puddle, and handed him off to Matthew to clean up, while I set to work cleaning up the floor.

We couldn't stop laughing as we went back to bed. Hopefully this was an isolated sleep walking incident and this doesn't become a habit.

  1. Aunt Ruthie says: That is exactly the same reaction our precious Wyatt would have had if he were being laughed at during a misfortune. They are so much alike.
